What to Expect During Your Termite Inspection

When termites take hold of your home, it’s important to locate them and exterminate them as soon as possible to keep the damage and the colony from spreading. It’s wise to get in touch with a termite specialist right at the first sign of termites — you can always call Arizona Termite Specialists if you live here in the Phoenix area. Let’s go over the signs of a termite infestation that you may notice, as well as what to expect during your initial termite inspection.

Signs of an Infestation

Keep an eye out for all of the following signs of a termite infestation:

  • Mud tunnels – Subterranean termites build mud tunnels (which are about a pencil width in diameter), that stem from the source of the colony to the colony’s foodsource.
  • Dropped wings – A new swarm will shed their wings when they find a suitable place to colonize.
  • Hollow wood – If an infestation is significant enough, you may be able to tell that wood throughout your home is hollow by tapping on the wood and listening for a hollow sound.
  • Drooping beams – In extreme cases, beams in your home may bend or break.

During an Inspection

During an inspection, we’ll assess your infestation to determine the type of termite with which we’re dealing, as well as the location of the colony. Next, we’ll propose a solution to exterminate your termites. Then, we’ll give you a quote for our termite control services—don’t fret, our quotes are always free. Here’s what you can expect during our inspections:

We’ll Assess the Infestation

First thing’s first, we’ll scour your property to find any infestation(s) that exists. We’ll identify the termites in order to properly treat them. You may have subterranean termites or drywood termites—two different species that thrive here in Arizona. We’ll do our best to determine the heart of the colony to properly treat your termites.

We’ll Propose a Solution

Once we’ve determined the type of termite at hand and the location of the colony (or colonies), we’ll offer up a treatment solution. With most of our exterminations, we utilize Termidor®, a powerful termiticide (AKA an insecticide for termites). Termidor treatments will differ depending on the species.

For subterranean termites, we’ll inject a solution of Termidor into the earth around your home. This technique wipes out termites that currently reside on your property while also providing lasting protection for your home.

We’ll Give You a Quote

Finally, we’ll give you a straightforward, fair quote for your termite control job. As we mentioned, our quotes are completely complimentary.
